FAQ

What should my child wear for class?

  • Girl gymnasts 5 & older must wear a leotard or one piece bathing suit.

  • Boys can wear shorts or sweatpants with a t-shirt that can be securely tucked in.

  • Hair that is at or past the shoulder needs to be tied back.

  • Jewelry needs to be removed before class starts.

  • Barefoot is preferred because socks and tights are slippery on beam and bars.

  • Also bringing a water bottle is a great idea!

What if my child can't make it to class one day?

If you are unable to attend class for any reason, please call or text, email us at

gemsathleticcenter@gmail.com or schedule an absence through iClass Pro.

Can we still join your classes after the term has started?

Yes, we offer open enrollment year round.  Please call for class availabilities or check the schedules in iClassPro here.

There are a lot of hands and feet at the gym touching things. How can I be sure we won't get sick?

While we cannot guarantee your child will not get sick from participating at the gym, we can assure you that the gym equipment and other facilities are being cleaned frequently in between class groups.

How long will it take my child to progress to each level?

Every child is different - strength, flexibility, bravery, and effort in class ultimately determine how long your child will spend in each level.  All gymnasts receive strength and flexibility training in every class so your child will become strong enough to do more difficult skills without injury.

Can parents watch?

Of course! At GEMS, we encourage parents to come cheer on their gymnast!  There is a large viewing area for family members.

Do you offer competitive classes for gymnastics teams?

Yes, we do! We coach girls up to Xcel Platinum. Please call the office during normal office hours or email us at gemsathleticcenter.com for more information.
